Video (English)

HOW TO USE:

  1. Thread in-line lure with main-line or trace.

  2. Put your line or trace through the two holes in the release-connector as shown on the video.

  3. Tie a Owner ST 36 BC X size 12 with any knot you like and turn it as shown on video, so one hook branch will turn away from lure, and two branches up against the lure. IMPORTANT: In order to achieve the higher landing rates, the branch pointing away from lure must be the one where the plane of the gape is parallel to the eye. Only one branch fulfills this criteria. If the hook is not turned right – it will not sit right – and hook the right way. Aditionally you risk to damage the connector, if you force a treble turned the wrong way down into the connector.

  4. Slide the knot down on the underside of the eye and pull the knot down into the connectors big hole. While doing this - click the hook into the claw of the connector – while making sure it´s turned right.

  5. The first time you click the hook into the connectors claws it’s a bit tight – so we advice you to click the hook up and down the claws 2-3 times before fishing.

  6. While fishing – always look at the connector before casting and be sure that the hook sits in the right position. It only takes a second – and with a bit of practice you don’t even need to have it in your hands to check, that the hook sits correct.

  7. Always fish the rod pointing straight at the lure to secure maximum transmission of power to the hook points. Never have an angle between rod and line, as this will give an inferior hooking with the small trebles.

  8. Fish with a brake pressure of 1,1 kilos when fishing.

  9. Never strike: When you feel the fish bite, wind instead quickly up on it with a fast but gradual increase in the bend of the rod - while putting full pressure on the fish all the time. Avoid traditional “whiplash strikes”. This will give you a safer hookset with the small trebles.

  10. When the fish is on and you have felt 3-4 headshakes – reduce to a slightly lower brake pressure of around 0,9 kilos – and fight the fish normally.

  11. Safe and quick removal of the small treble demands a small surgeon pean or a push-back disgorger, if its hooked deep. Fishing with release-connector will allow you to unhook 100 % under water even on deeply hooked fish as demonstrated in this video: https://vimeo.com/165110048

  12. After use, click the hook out of the release-connector, so you avoid that a constant, long term tension on the claw can change the holding power of the release-connector.

  13. Always keep an eye on the connectors. In the same way as hooks at some point sooner or later will go blunt – the claws on the release-connector will also gradually get worn down and loose its holding power: If you get to the point where the hook sits too loose to be orientated right – change to a new release connector.

  14. The release-connectors are made of biodegradable plastic, but this does not mean, that you can just throw it in the nature. As other types of plastic we advise you to dispose this in the right fraction at the recycling center.

  15. Do not attempt to fit in larger trebles, singles or other types of hooks into the release-connector as this can damage the material and the holding power – plus cause fractures and malfunction of the product.

*) Statistics are based on fishing in areas where the majority of fish is 40-45 cm+. This method is designed to maximize landing rates of legal sized seatrout over 40-45 cm – and to minimize landing rates and damage on sub legal sized fish < 40 cm, that are better off not being landed at all. In the statistics traditional big trebles ≥ size 6 or big singles ≥ size 1/0 – that normally gives a landing rates of 40-43 % are compared to release-connectors fished with a size 12 treble on lures of the same size. Our test team have achieved an average landing rate of 65 % on the release-connector. If you want even higher landing rates we recommend you to make your own release-rigs as described in my seatrout book here: http://bursell.dk/books/fishing
