Asymmetry in flyrigs - why?

Asymmetric microtreble rigs enables you to use much smaller hooks giving a highly improved penetration, better hookhold. Additionally smaller hooks is better in a catch & release context because they make smaller hookswounds, are less likely to cause lethal bleeding and tissue damages and makes is much easier to unhook fish 100 % under water with the aid of a disgorger. Here you get the technical details on why asymmetrically mounted microtrebles will double the landingrate compared to singlehookflies. Text and photos: Jens Bursell
